About

I hold a B.A. in English from the University of Florida and a M.A. in English Literature from Loyola Marymount University and I’ve been teaching English composition and literature for twenty years at several colleges including Los Angeles City College, Glendale Community College, Santa Monica College, and Loyola Marymount University.

I am also a writer and former dance critic.

Additionally I’ve worked in Los Angeles City Collegeʼs Writing Center for 20 years where I’ve helped countless students craft polished essays and personal statements.

In 2014, having seen too many students come into the college’s writing center without any clear direction in terms of their personal statement, I decided to begin Write Time Essays. I realized that quite often students are unclear about what college admission boards are looking for. Moreover, it’s not always easy for individuals to recognize what it is that makes them unique, thus making it a challenge to figure out what story about oneself to tell. Finding your story is something I do through an in depth  interview in which we’ll reflect on and explore your background together. On many occasions, I’ve helped students to “piece together” aspects of their lives, and together we’ve determined what it is about their backgrounds that drives their interest in their chosen field of study. If you already feel confident about the story you want to tell and just need help expressing it, I’m happy to help with that as well.

I’ve proudly helped many students get into their dream schools, many of which are ivy league colleges. And it’s not just undergraduate degrees either, as I work with students applying to graduate, medical, and law school.

I’m your champion and ally in the college application process and take your success very seriously; your victory is my victory and I take great pride and pleasure when you reach your goals.
